Caio Tour - Llewellyn ap Gruffyd Fychan
Instead of leading the king's army to the rebel headquarters,
Gruffyd led them on a wild goose chase to enable Owain Glyndwr time to consolidate
his position and prepare for battle against the English king. The king took
his revenge on Gruffyd and on 9 October
1401 he was
hanged,
drawn and quartered in a public execution in Llandovery's Market Square.
Parts of his body were then preserved in salt and sent to other areas of
Wales to act as a warning to other rebels. More information is available
from the BBC
website....
