Dave Cottle's Live Dance Band
and table nibbles

Yes, you have read it right, due to unprecedented demand they were here for a second performance and were again absolutely brilliant. This band should make a dance CD, every piece they played was not just the correct tempo (which of course is essential) but was played in such a style that it made people want to get up and dance, which indeed they did, in absolute droves! Seldom have we seen the floor so crowded. You often find with small bands that whilst the numbers change, the overall effect tends to be very similar, however, with two singers, plus the ability to play saxaphones, clarinet, trumpet and keyboard there was plenty of variation of style. Their jazz numbers are simply terrific and the two singers, although hugely different in style, complement eachother. There is no way you can apply the word monotonous to this band.

Vicars and Tarts Ball

Autumn Ball
Another sucessful evening due in no small part to our members willing to help out. We had Hazel on the door for the first hour who was multi-tasking in trying to join in the dance as well as welcoming new arrivals. The music program shared between Wayne and Linda, Elwin and Gwyneth providing first and second half entertainment respectively and Keith and Irene slotting in to do the party dances to ensure everyone, even non-dancers were able to join in and enjoy themselves. Thanks also go to all those members working behind the scenes doing their bit from advertising the event, decorating the room and stage, setting up tables, cleaning floors, and last but not least washing up glasses and tablecloths and putting everything away again afterwards!

Charity Ball featuring...

Demonstrations in the Modern and Latin dances from Amateur Champions Alyn Johnson and Elinor Howells

As the Tsunami appeal had closed all profits have been donated to the Africa Appeal.

"The evening was again enjoyed by all despite a last minute panic when we realised the floor would be too slippy to hold the demonstration! However, true to form our members rallied forth undaunted - whilst one attacked the problem with mop, bucket and washing up liquid others followed close at heel with makeshift towels wrapped around long brushes to get the floor dry again just as the first guests were arriving, thus saving the day - a truly heroic effort!"
