Zig Zag Cha Cha

I am indebted to Janice Hawtin of the Janice Hawtin School of Dance in Aberystwyth for most of this Cha Cha Cha script although where the credit lies to the original author I have no idea. I have simply added a bit onto the end of it (steps 25 - 32). It is suitable for beginners when played at quite a slow tempo (say 27-30 bpm) and seems to be enjoyed by all.

Steps are given for the man - lady does the natural opposite.

Music suggestions: Achy Breaky Heart, Islands in the stream (from 25 top Rumbas CD)

Abbreviations :

L = left, R = right, LF = left foot; RF = right foot; LH = left hand, RH = right hand, fwd = forward, , S = slow; Q = quick,
LOD = Line of dance, DC = diagonal centre, DW = diagonal wall;

Start in double hand hold man facing DW lady DC about to move down LOD.
Footwork: Ball flat throughout.

Zig Zag:
RF fwd and across down LOD, LF side, RF diagonally back across the body, LF side (1,2,3,4)
RF fwd and across body to check in fencing line down LOD, replace to LF, turn to face partner and dance cha cha cha to the side against LOD. (5,6, 7 and 8)

Repeat steps 1-8 in the opposite direction:

On step 32 take up double hand hold ready to start again.
